I really enjoyed the storyline. I'm giving it a 4-star rating primarily because Tim Curry's talent shines through, although I must admit I've become quite fond of Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket. It's hard to find anything that can fully satisfy me now.
Moreover, I personally found this rendition to be significantly superior to the full cast version.
The Reptile Room: A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 2 was a solid read, but in order to fully grasp the story, it's essential to follow the series in sequential order.
Tim Curry does the narration for this entire story (whereas a full cast narrates the Bad Beginning), but his narration is absolutely stellar and the story itself is quite delightful. I highly recommend it!
I've been a fan of these books for a long time. Tim Curry is great, but his portrayal of Uncle Monty really ruined this book for me. It reminded me of Nigel Thornberry.
The narration is decent overall, but Monty's voice could use some improvement. It's quite nasal and congested, which makes it a bit challenging to enjoy.
