  • This book is incredibly uplifting and enjoyable. As someone who has personally trekked through the smokies, I was able to vividly imagine the events of the story playing out in my mind.
  • I absolutely loved 'A Walk for Sunshine', it's hands down one of the best books I've read about the Appalachian Trail. The author's captivating storytelling makes you feel like you're right there on the journey, and you never want it to end. It's a first-hand account that takes you from the starting point to the very end, showcasing the transformation from uncertainty to determination. As a trail book, it does an exceptional job of guiding you through the entire Springer to Katahdin experience. It's truly inspiring on multiple levels, motivating you to embrace adventure and seize opportunities to help others along the way.
  • I absolutely adore this account! Unfortunately, I've never had the chance (and never will) to experience the AT myself. Since I'm a fan of hiking, this book provided me with a vicarious journey that I thoroughly enjoyed. One thing I would have preferred is if Mr. Alt had enlisted the assistance of a skilled editor to address the grammatical errors and awkwardly constructed sentences that naturally come with maintaining a daily journal. Personally, these types of mistakes bother me, but I've learned to overlook them rather than disregarding a fantastic story and denying myself the pleasure it brings. Regarding the narrator's performance, it didn't quite sit well with me. The way he pronounced "Appalachian" grated on the ears and nerves of this West Virginia gal. Throughout the book, I couldn't really feel that he was truly in sync with the story. In order to tolerate his reading style, I had to increase the speed beyond my usual preference. But then again, perhaps it's just my own perception.
  • I really enjoyed reading this book - it was a pleasant and effortless listen with a captivating storytelling style. The narrative is fantastic and avoids becoming overly technical. The book provides a great overview of the trail and effectively captures the ups and downs of walking it.
  • I had a great time listening to his adventure, and the fact that it supported a worthy cause made it even better. Personally, I feel like the book could have concluded earlier. Towards the end, it seemed to have unnecessary content, but overall, I still adored the narrative.
  • The narrator of 'A Walk for Sunshine' had a tough time pronouncing words related to the Appalachian trail, and his voice sounded too mechanical, almost like a computer. This made it difficult for me to fully enjoy the audiobook, and at times, I really wanted to correct his pronunciation. It became a challenge to make it through the whole thing.
