To be honest, this book is the most tedious one I've ever listened to. I skipped through large sections, yet nothing of significance occurred. It revolves around two kind-hearted guys with supportive parents, who grow up and develop romantic feelings for one another. So what? There's no real plot, substance, or intensity. It lacks action and instead, delves into trivial introspection about... well, nothing really. These two guys have nothing to be angsty about, yet they incessantly complain. Ugh, I can't fathom why so many people enjoyed this. It simply frustrated me to no end. There might have been potential for a short story, but stretching it out into a novel? No way. Boring! I returned it.
This book has been a favorite of mine for a very long time. It's not just a beautiful love story, but also a captivating tale that teaches valuable lessons. When it comes to portraying romance, it's one of the most authentic depictions I've come across. The pacing is perfect, with twists, turns, heart-wrenching moments, and plenty of laughter. Dante is an absolutely delightful character, while Ari is intriguing, mysterious, and relatable. I adored this book so much that I even bought a physical copy after finishing the audiobook. Lin Manuel Miranda's narration was great overall, although there were times when I found his voice for Dante a bit irritating and forced. It would have been better if he had made a slight adjustment instead. Nevertheless, this is my only criticism, and I hope you find this review helpful. 😊
