Summary
The coauthor of the classic bestseller Boundaries, with over 2 million copies sold, and an expert on the psychology of business and leadership performance explains the behavioral reasons why some people get great results and others don't.
I was pretty disappointed overall. It felt like the author relied too heavily on buzzwords in an attempt to create a cohesive narrative. He kept repeating terms like "results," "drive results," "achieve," "attend," "inhibit," and "culture" without providing any concrete actions to take. I was hoping for more practical advice that I could implement immediately, but unfortunately, that was lacking.
I totally agree with the insights shared in the culture section of this audiobook. I took action on them and achieved remarkable success. Currently, I am focusing on implementing the lessons from other sections of the book and I must say, I feel incredibly empowered and in control.
The introduction of the book seemed excessively long and I was expecting more practical guidelines. As someone who has already put in a lot of effort into setting boundaries, I had hoped that this book would provide further insights and assistance for implementing boundaries in my business. However, I found it to be more theoretical than practical. I only managed to read about a third of the book before jumping to chapter 10, then skipping to the conclusion, and my opinion remained unchanged. Perhaps the most valuable content was in the middle section.
This audiobook effectively communicates valuable principles in a straightforward and concise manner. It emphasizes the idea that we ultimately get what we promote and what we allow, highlighting the importance of being fully in control of our responsibilities.
This book is one of the most eye-opening and beneficial reads/listens I've come across recently. Although it appears to be primarily aimed at C Suite leaders, as a healthcare field manager, I still managed to extract some valuable insights from it.
Dr. Cloud never disappoints with his ability to provide practical examples and step-by-step guidance. This book is a must-read for leaders at all levels, especially those in the C-Suite.
The explanations in this audiobook are really on point. It's definitely worth giving it a listen! I was completely captivated right until the very end.
