  • The first half of the book was really captivating and provided an insightful perspective on the feeling of being trapped in a difficult situation. The author expresses gratitude and humility, which adds a nice touch to the story. However, once the protagonist escapes that situation, she begins to exhibit overt narcissistic traits and avoids taking responsibility for the consequences of her actions. The excessive name-dropping becomes overwhelming. It seems that her success is solely attributed to men falling in love with her. Personally, I would have preferred to delve more into the author's genuine struggles, the lessons she learned, and how she integrated them into her life. Unfortunately, I had to give up on the book when I was 95% through because the protagonist became so unlikable and off-putting. It's disappointing because I initially enjoyed the show.
  • In my humble opinion, having Ms. Haart as the narrator for her own book was the perfect choice. Her story is absolutely mind-blowing, and the passion and authenticity in her words make you feel like you've truly connected with this fearless woman. I'm still curious to find out if there's anything she can't accomplish! Well, except maybe reaching the top shelf, but knowing her, she could probably do that in her fabulous shoes too! Her unwavering determination is truly infectious. I will definitely be suggesting this book to every lady I know, and maybe even a few gents. There's a powerful message for everyone in this incredible narrative.
  • I had a bit of a dilemma when deciding whether to give this book five stars or not. On one hand, there were so many aspects I wished the author had delved into further. However, I ultimately appreciated that she opened up and shared what she felt comfortable with, even if it left me wanting more. The narration of the book was done beautifully. The only downside was that I had to speed up the performance to keep myself fully engaged. Considering it was Julia Haart's debut book and the subject matter was both raw and real, "Brazen" proved to be a captivating and enlightening read. It provides a glimpse into the world of the fundamentalist ultra religious sect of Judaism. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is curious about how individuals who are heavily suppressed in their daily lives can summon the courage to take a leap of faith and embrace the unknown for a better future.
  • This book has taught me so many things, it's hard to put into words. If you're curious about extreme orthodox Judaism firsthand, then you absolutely have to read this book. It's been more than a week since I finished it, yet it still occupies my thoughts. Julia narrating her own story enhances the immersive experience in a crucial manner. You'll be instantly captivated from the very beginning.
  • Once I binge-watched her Netflix show and heard her discussing the book, I had a hunch that if I adored the show, I would be equally smitten with the book. And boy, was I right! This book is absolutely mind-blowing, taking readers on an exhilarating journey. Brace yourself for moments of laughter, tears, frustration, and awe. Julia truly exceeded all expectations with this masterpiece. It deserves a solid 5-star rating, and if it were possible, I'd gladly give it a perfect 10 stars!
  • Thanks for opening up and sharing your journey. It must have been quite a challenge. It's truly awe-inspiring to learn about the obstacles you faced and how you ultimately achieved great success! As a Jewish woman who deeply values her faith but also believes in gender equality, I can relate to the struggles you've experienced. It's incredibly empowering to hear someone speak up about these issues. It's definitely time for a change! So, Julia, thank you for your courage. I wish you ongoing prosperity.
  • This book gives off the vibe of someone reminiscing about ancient tales from a distant place, adding twists and a touch of fairytale magic. Certain sections seem to clash with one another. As I delved deeper into the chapters, it started to come across as a bit complainy. I do appreciate the author's honesty in acknowledging that the constraints imposed by her religion didn't align with her true self and the life she desired to lead, particularly her longing for opulence and extravagance.
  • I devoured the entire book in just four days! Having Julia as the narrator added a unique touch. The plot is absolutely mind-blowing yet still easy to connect with. The start left me feeling a bit down, but the ending brought me so much joy. I can't recommend it highly enough!
  • I feel like I want my money back, but unfortunately, I can't reclaim the hours I wasted reading this book. It was a complete waste of time with no valuable insights, analysis, catharsis, or truth. I'm extremely disappointed.
  • After being captivated by her show on Netflix, I couldn't wait to dive into this book. However, I was slightly disappointed by the choice of narrator. Julia's sing-song style of narration felt a bit overwhelming, like a combination of a fairy tale and nails scraping on a chalkboard. As for the story itself, it seemed like one big self-congratulatory pat on the back for her. Even the supposedly miserable parts of her life were portrayed in a magical light, which left me feeling a bit perplexed as a listener. If you're curious about her story solely because of the Netflix show, I'd suggest stopping there and not delving into the book.
