  • As per usual, Special Agent Pendergast proves to be anything but your typical detective, and the crimes he investigates are far from ordinary. Additionally, his ward Constance Green plays a prominent role in the story. This novel is like having two books in one, with the most exhilarating action unfolding in the final third. It's difficult to delve into the plot without giving away spoilers, but rest assured that Pendergast takes us on quite the adventure in this installment! As always, Rene Auberjonois' narration is a treat for the ears. Give it a read, you won't regret it. Just make sure to stay on top of all the intricate details of the storyline.
  • This book is an absolute delight to read, providing pure entertainment from start to finish. As expected, Pendergast steals the show with his superior and captivating persona, showcasing his typical Pendergast flair. The dynamic duo of Pendergast and Constance is truly wonderful, bringing an extra layer of depth to the story. Speaking of the story, it seamlessly combines various mysteries, some easy to grasp and others lurking beneath the surface. The thrilling interweaving of these mysteries keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The last third of the book is particularly gripping, filled with plenty of thrilling moments and unexpected surprises that are impossible to put down. The climax is satisfying, and the reappearance of an old foe adds an exciting twist. The authors did an excellent job building up anticipation in the previous book, and they take it to an even more devious level this time around. Fans of the series will undoubtedly appreciate this installment as one of the best. However, even readers new to the Pendergast series can enjoy this book as it stands strongly on its own, without prior knowledge of the series. The narration is superb, perfectly capturing the essence of the characters and setting the right mood throughout. Without a doubt, this audiobook is worth every credit spent.
  • I just gotta say it-Pendergast is freaking awesome. Seriously, I had to let that out. He's the complete package; strong, brilliant, flawed, and has a razor-sharp sense of sarcasm. And let me give a big thumbs up to Ms. Greene too. She's a real surprise. She makes a real effort to fit in and adapt to the real world, but her darkness hangs over her life like cobwebs in an empty house-her house, her world. The actual story was super interesting. I've never come across anything like it. Let's just say that by the end, all I could say was, "Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh." It was intense, no doubt about it. It was a great listen and now I'm moving on to the next one.
  • The main issue with this book is the anticipation for the next installment. Similar to previous books, it appears to be the beginning of a series within a series. However, despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the novel. In "Crimson Shore," Pendergast and Constance find themselves embarking on a seemingly minor case involving a wine cellar theft. What initially appears to be a relaxing vacation quickly takes a dark turn when murders start to occur. As usual, there is an air of suspicion surrounding everyone involved, and a touch of the supernatural adds to the intrigue. The story primarily focuses on my two favorite characters, who truly shine in this tale. Pendergast's eccentricity is as captivating as ever, and the narration does an excellent job of capturing the essence of the characters and their surroundings.
  • I'm excited for the next Pendergast novel to come out. However, I was let down by this one. The lack of character development was a major drawback. I'll have to go back and reread the earlier books to better grasp ACL P's and Constance's backgrounds and unique qualities, which would have made the storyline more engaging for me. The ending was particularly unsatisfying.
  • I've been a big fan of the Pendergast series and have devoured every installment. "Crimson Shore" was no exception, delivering the same level of excitement and intrigue. However, things took a turn when Constance departed from the Inn. It felt like the story veered off course and lost its way. I still listened intently, but it seemed like a different writing style, not the usual brilliance of Preston and Child. It left me wondering what they were thinking. On a positive note, as always, the narration by Mr. Auberjonois was impeccable.
  • I just completed "Crimson Shore" and let me tell you, those guys nailed it once more. It's even more impressive than A. C. Doyle! Once you dive into Lincoln/Child's world, you're absolutely hooked. It's like an addiction, I swear. Personally, I'm on a mission to collect all their books as first editions, and I highly recommend getting them from VJ books online. They're a fantastic resource for folks who don't have a bookstore nearby. Seriously, give this book a read. And I mean right now. Go grab yourself a copy from a bookstore ASAP.
