I was extremely let down by the audiobook version of 'Dark Prince: Author's Cut Special Edition'! The narrator's portrayal of Raven was consistently teary and feeble, which was a major disappointment. I purchased this book with the expectation of enjoying an additional five hours of dialogue, but unfortunately, that was not the case. There were a few instances where deleted dialogue was included, but the majority of the added time was simply due to the slow pace of the narrator's reading.
It's a shame that Abby Craden did not bring out Raven's character more effectively with her pleasant voice. Raven, as depicted in the books, was a strong woman, but this did not come across in Craden's portrayal. I can't help but wonder if Christine has listened to this audiobook and what her thoughts are on it...
This book is absolutely terrible. The author just keeps going on and on about the same thing. He keeps talking about needing blood, she needs blood, he gets blood, she gets blood. And then it's all about him needing to protect his woman and how Carpathians value women more than humans. It's just the same thing over and over again, and it's honestly exhausting. The story moves at such a slow pace, and it could have easily been wrapped up in a short two-hour book. And to make matters worse, the author repeats information about the characters so many times that I started to question if she had short-term memory loss. It's like she forgot she already described them three times before! I had to really push myself to keep listening to this book, but I eventually gave up because I couldn't stand hearing the same nonsense over and over again.
This romance novel is way too cliche. I'm not sure if it's Abby's narration or Christine's writing, but it seriously made me want to lose my mind while listening to it.
I was really let down by 'Dark Prince: Author's Cut Special Edition', a vampire romance novel. I had no clue it would be such trash before redeeming my credit. It would be great if I could get my credit refunded so I can invest in a genuine science fiction book.
I agree with the previous reviewer's sentiments that Juanita Parker didn't give this series the credit it deserves. However, Abby Craden's performance is exceptional and she manages to pronounce 'Gregori' correctly, unlike her predecessor who said 'Gregory'. It would be great if she could redo Ms. Parker's efforts.
If you're into authors who have a knack for endlessly repeating themselves, then this book is right up your alley. By the time I reached the conclusion, I was absolutely itching to track down the mastermind behind this catastrophe and give her a good slap. The monotonous ramblings of the poorly developed romance, concealed under a supernatural facade, made me feel nauseous. The only reason I managed to make it through this book was because I snagged it for free with my initial credit purchase. The reviews and ratings from other readers were deeply underwhelming, and I sincerely pray that I never come across anything as atrocious as this ever again.
