Summary
Before the battle of the SandWing queens; before the prophecy and the dragonets sent to save Pyrrhia from endless war; a long, long time ago ... evil was born.
My stepson, who is 14, absolutely loves these books. I decided to give them a read in order to understand the appeal. What I discovered was a book series that I would never have permitted my children to read. These books have a sneaky way of presenting troubling ideas. One common theme is that parents, particularly mothers, are portrayed as abusive and untrustworthy. The overall quality of the themes, writing style, and grammar is questionable, to say the least. In addition to the problematic themes, the story itself lacks originality and seems to cater to the lowest common denominator, assuming that children are unintelligent and easily entertained. I cannot recommend these books enough, and I struggle to find adequate words to convey how harmful I believe they can be to children, rather than providing entertainment. It's crucial to read these books yourself before allowing your children to do so.
I absolutely adore the 'Darkstalker: Wings of Fire: Legends' series! I can't contain my excitement for the release of book 15. I'll keep this review short since I need some sleep, but I want to give a shoutout to Shannon McMannus and Tui T. Sutherland for their phenomenal work. They are the absolute best! These books are my lifeline, and I would go crazy if anyone dared to damage their covers. It would be like committing a crime against literature. P.S.
