Summary
For four years, Kate Marshall has been grieving the loss of her husband and their three-year-old son in a boating accident. But when she spots a familiar-looking child on an escalator in the mall, she is convinced it is the son she thought was dead. With police skeptical of her story, she turns to private investigator Connor Sullivan. The former Secret Service agent is dubious but agrees to investigate. Digging into the case he discovers that the incident may have been no accident at all. But if Kate's son is alive, someone is intent on keeping him hidden—and may be willing to go to lethal lengths to protect a sinister secret.
This audiobook was an absolute delight from start to finish. It captured my attention with its intriguing plot and kept me engaged with every unexpected development. The narrator did an exceptional job of bringing the story to life. The conclusion was filled with nail-biting suspense, but it provided a satisfying outcome.
The narration of 'Deceived: Private Justice, Book 3' is on point. It's a fun and effortless listen, although you might have to let go of reality a bit, as there are quite a few convenient occurrences in the plot's unexpected twists and turns.
The audiobook 'Deceived: Private Justice, Book 3' had a commendable performance and an intriguing concept. However, the characters were overly simplistic and irritating, including the child character. The constant emphasis on "God's will" and "God's hand," along with the presence of a pastor and church, felt excessive and seemed unrelated to the actual story. This aspect was quite nauseating. Although I would have abandoned the book early on, I decided to finish it as a means of exploring different cultural perspectives. Warm and surprised greetings from Norway.
