Summary
Sous chef Aimee Tierney has the perfect recipe for the perfect life: marry her childhood sweetheart, raise a family, and buy out her parents' restaurant. But when her fiancé, James Donato, vanishes in a boating accident, her well-baked future is swept out to sea. Instead of walking down the aisle on their wedding day, Aimee is at James's funeral-a funeral that leaves her more unsettled than at peace.
I can't understand how or why this book received such positive feedback on the platform. It's completely baffling. If this is the author's debut novel, I would suggest they pursue a different hobby. The characters are poorly developed and lack depth. The author continuously uses repetitive and unimpressive phrases. There are elements of sex, cursing, a rape incident that didn't seem to evoke strong reactions, incest, and an unsatisfying epilogue.
I advise you to choose an alternative audiobook to listen to.
This book is on the same level as asking if you make out with other girls in your class. I've made attempts to read it here and there, but I can't figure out its direction. Even by Chapter 12, the protagonist is still obsessing over a guy named James.
I stuck with this audiobook until the very end. It has that Lifetime movie vibe, which personally isn't my cup of tea. However, if that's your jam, you'll likely dig it more than I did.
