  • I'm a huge fan of George Carlin and I've been a dedicated follower, listening to, watching, and keeping up with every single one of his appearances. That being said, I wasn't particularly fond of this book. It felt like an assortment of his performances put together in a rather disjointed manner, with him using the same phrases he had already used on stage, leaving nothing fresh or innovative.
  • This audiobook is a mixed bag of laughs and relief that George Carlin chose comedy over being the President. It's more like a collection of random soundbites that start and stop abruptly, leaving you unsure when it's actually finished until you hear the closing blurb. Regardless of whether you're a Carlin fan or not, this audiobook gives you a chance to experience both sides. Some of his humor is shocking, likely a result of his drug habits, while other moments are insightful and highlight the absurdities of our society. While I wouldn't personally pay full price for it, if you happen to come across a discounted version, it might be worth considering.
  • I should've known that this audiobook would be the most explicit and vulgar piece of content I've ever come across. Seriously, I should've seen it coming. But hey, it's George Carlin we're talking about! Sure, he's known for his choice of language, but usually, he's funny or makes you ponder, sometimes even both. I went through some of the reviews, and most of them were positive, so I decided to take a chance. I expected some profanity, but I also expected wit and intellect. Instead, what I got was a barrage of awful words – not just the ones I was prepared for, although those were definitely present – without any redeeming purpose. It's one thing to sprinkle a few expletives here and there, but it's a whole different story when certain "bad" words are thrown at you constantly. And it's even worse when those words are used solely for shock value, instead of driving home a point and making you think about the absurdities of life, the control the powers that be have over us and our planet, and so on. If George had just used the words I expected, along with his intelligence (which I know he possesses) and humor, I might have actually enjoyed the book. But I couldn't even make it through the first ten minutes. It was just downright unpleasant. No humor. No intellect. Just dirty words that served absolutely no purpose, except to make me uncomfortable and cringe. It felt like listening to a little kid who just discovered a whole bunch of body-related words and uses them to shock their parents. I guess George never really grew up. What a waste of his exceptional talents.
  • George Carlin is undeniably a comedic genius when it comes to stand-up comedy. However, when it comes to being a book writer, this particular audiobook, read by Carlin himself, falls a bit short. I gave it a fair chance by listening to approximately 20% of it and even skipped ahead to different chapters, but unfortunately, I couldn't find a single amusing moment. It seems more like a written tirade about life rather than a collection of humorous anecdotes. If you're looking for a good dose of Carlin's humor, I would recommend investing in a Carlin DVD instead.
