Summary
It felt like I was speeding on the Autobahn toward hell, trapped inside a DeLorean with no brakes. And even if I could somehow stop, I'd still be screwed, because there''s no way I'd ever be able to figure out how to open those insane, cocaine-designed doors.
The book lacks depth and substance. Although it does contain humorous moments, the author dedicates a significant portion of the book attempting to crack jokes about her six-week hospital stay. Overall, the book provides limited value and offers minimal assistance to individuals in recovery from addiction.
She really pours her heart out and it's clear that she feels deeply about sharing her personal journey. However, I found that the narrative lacked direction and didn't fully evolve into a cohesive story. While she tried to make it personal, it didn't resonate with me, and I'm grateful that she wrote this book for her own benefit because I don't think it would appeal to a wider audience.
I'm stoked that she decided to narrate her own book because her voice is fantastic. As someone who's on the road to recovery, I was looking forward to hearing her personal story of overcoming obstacles and the circumstances that led her there. Unfortunately, the story didn't captivate me and I didn't find much enjoyment in it.
