Summary
Influence, the classic book on persuasion, explains the psychology of why people say "yes" and how to apply these understandings. Dr. Robert Cialdini is the seminal expert in the rapidly expanding field of influence and persuasion. His thirty-five years of rigorous, evidence-based research along with a three-year program of study on what moves people to change behavior has resulted in this highly acclaimed book.
This audiobook has a fair amount of correlation rather than causation. It's important to pay attention to how the author employs their own teachings to persuade the reader and whether or not they are effective. It would be ideal to confirm intriguing ideas by referring to third-party sources or checking out social science experiments on YouTube. Personally, I found chapter 7 to be quite enjoyable due to its self-referential nature.
The writing and narration of this book are top-notch. The inclusion of reader's letters, electronic box, and explanations of levers and defense tactics added a surprising amount of depth to the content. I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks a lot.
If you're looking for a professional audiobook narrator who engages with the material instead of sounding like a young child learning to read, then "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion" might not be the best choice. However, I do believe the book has some valuable content, so I would still recommend giving it a read. Perhaps for future audiobooks, investing in a more skilled narrator like Sean Pratt would be a wise decision. Contrary to popular belief, hiring a top-notch narrator like Pratt might not be as costly as you think.
