  • I couldn't stop thinking about those words throughout 'It Ends with Us'. I haven't read or listened to any of Colleen Hoover's books before, but I have never come across a more exceptional treatment of the subject matter. She confirmed my thoughts in the epilogue, which is absolutely deserving of this book. This novel is a prime example of masterful storytelling; you can see that most of the other reviews are short and sweet because the storytelling is so captivating and exquisite. When the plot takes a turn, it catches the reader off guard just like it does Lily, the incredibly well-crafted heroine. No one wants to spoil it for others. Narrator Olivia Song is without a doubt the perfect choice for this role. I had some doubts when I heard her childlike voice, but Lily herself describes her voice as 'weak' and Song gives an outstanding performance. The production is flawless. So do yourself a favor and don't waste time reading more reviews - they might give away too much, and that's the last thing you want. Just use your credit and dive right into 'It Ends with Us' - it's truly amazing, just like Lily says.
  • Someone recommended me this book, but I was skeptical because I didn't enjoy a previous novel by Hoover that I read a few years ago. However, I decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, my opinion hasn't changed. As someone who loves fiction, I crave stories that have substance and depth. I want to be fully engrossed in the narrative and find it believable. However, this book felt like a watered-down version of "50 Shades of Gray" aimed at young adults in their early twenties. It was difficult for me to connect with the main character, Lily, as well as her incredibly attractive love interest, a neurosurgeon who abruptly changes his dating philosophy because she is irresistible. Additionally, her ex-boyfriend from her teenage years, who also happens to be incredibly handsome, is still obsessed with her. It was hard to buy into these characters and their relationships. Furthermore, the plot took a turn when Lily, who previously had only one job, suddenly decides to open her own flower shop which becomes an instant success thanks to the help of a wealthy new friend who offers to work for free. It all felt too convenient and unrealistic. I initially told myself I would finish the book, but when I saw that there were still 6 hours left, I decided to call it quits.
