  • I absolutely adore the characters in the Plum series.....and this installment definitely lives up to expectations. The story is fantastic. Once again, Lorelei King's narration is top-notch. It's a captivating listen with all my beloved characters.....
  • I really hope the author can address this issue. Stephanie keeps repeating the same mistakes without learning from them. It's frustrating to see her portrayed as unintelligent due to her repetitive errors. The plotline in all the Plum books is quite similar. It would be great to see Stephanie become more intelligent, carry a weapon, kick some butt, and successfully apprehend her FTA's on the first try. It's disheartening to see Joyce, who has been a bully to Stephanie since childhood, portrayed as a more skilled bounty hunter. Stephanie should be the one to outshine Joyce for once. This aspect of the series is incredibly frustrating. However, I did enjoy the fact that Stephanie finally stood up to Dickie Orr, who is a despicable person. I'm hoping for progress in Stephanie and Joe's relationship. I know Ranger is a complication, but since he respects Joe, I believe the three of them can make it work. I'm also glad that Bob, the dog, is still a part of the story. Anything is better with a furry companion in the mix. Let's hope for personal growth in Stephanie's character in the next book.
  • This book is absolutely hilarious! I found myself laughing out loud, even though I probably looked crazy sitting in my car laughing by myself. It was such an enjoyable read!
  • Another installment in the Stephanie Plum series with Evanovich delivering more of the same. Just like always, the villains lack depth and are surprisingly incompetent this time around. A fun and predictable read.
  • I gotta say, I was seriously let down by this book. It seems like the author didn't give it their all. Now, I'm a massive fan of the series, but this installment just doesn't deliver. The story is lacking, and even though the dialogue usually shines, it only manages to bring a few chuckles here and there. C'mon Janet, let's see some real effort in the next one...pretty please!
  • I've been a fan of every book in this series and I recently listened to my first audio version with Twelve Sharp. I was really happy with that book, so naturally, I quickly downloaded Lean Mean Thirteen as soon as it became available. However, I must say that I'm a bit disappointed. What I love about this series are its humorous elements, the quirky and ditzy Stephanie Plum, who actually turns out to be quite clever and attractive, her complicated relationships with two attractive men, and her crazy family members, each with their unique personalities that add excitement to the series. Unfortunately, I felt that this particular story lacked the depth and engagement I usually enjoy. Both the main plot and the subplots were rather bland. If this were any other series, I would give it a single star rating. But, considering it's Stephanie Plum, I'll give it a three-star rating, although that's quite low for this series. Janet, I'll give you one more chance to bring back that thrilling plot that I crave.
  • I'm totally hooked on the Stephanie Plum series after reading this author for the first time. I binged all 13 books in just one week and couldn't get enough of the adventures and mishaps that Stephanie, Joe, Ranger, Lula, and the gang got themselves into. While some previous reviews had their own opinions, I have to disagree with those who claim that Stephanie's recurring situations get boring and predictable. To me, she's just one of those people who trouble and chaos always manage to find. On the other hand, I do agree that Lori Petty's narration captures Stephanie's essence perfectly. However, Debi Mazar's accent is a bit too thick for audio books, and Lorilei King takes over as the narrator for the rest of the series. Although King's character voices are fantastic (she's got an incredible range!), her Stephanie voice lacks the Jersey accent and sounds a bit too posh. But overall, King is an absolute delight to listen to. And let me tell you, you'll definitely fall head over heels for Ranger and Joe! They're both so irresistible that it's no wonder Stephanie can't choose between them! So, don't let the changing narrators discourage you from giving this hilarious, charming, and occasionally mysterious series a listen. Trust me, you won't be let down if you're in the mood for something light-hearted.
  • I just finished listening to "Lean Mean Thirteen," and as someone who is new to the Plum series, it took me a little while to adjust to the audiobook format. However, once I got into it, I found that the overall execution was quite well done. The comical situations that the characters found themselves in were truly one-of-a-kind, which only made them even funnier. While I must admit that the ongoing saga between Ranger and Morelli is starting to feel a bit repetitive, it still manages to serve the plot effectively. All in all, I'd say give it a go and just enjoy the ride!
  • Has the series taken a nosedive? I used to laugh non-stop with the earlier books, but this installment doesn't bring anything fresh to the table. It lacks substance in terms of plot and character growth, and it's not as humorous as before, in my humble opinion. Moreover, I'm exhausted with the constant narrative of the female protagonist having to rely on her male counterparts for assistance.
