Summary

As a young kid growing up in a farm town, Ross Mathews might as well have wished for a pet unicorn or a calorie-free cookie tree to grow in his front yard. Either of those far-fetched fantasies would have been more likely to come true than his real dream: working in television in Hollywood, California. Seriously, that stuff just doesn't happen to people like Ross. But guess what. It totally did.

  • I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Initially, I expected it to be a light and fluffy read, which it definitely is, but in the end, it turned out to be a thoroughly enjoyable and delightful experience. As someone who primarily knows Ross from his appearances on RuPaul's Drag Race, this book provided a deeper insight into his career and personal life. What truly brings this audiobook to life is Ross' unique narrative style. As you make your way through the book, you'll find yourself constantly smiling at his captivating stories and witty remarks. This alone makes it an excellent experience, and in my opinion, even more enjoyable than GuRu.
  • This audiobook, 'Man Up!: Tales of My Delusional Self-Confidence', is a delightful account of optimism in our chaotic and unpredictable society, where misinformation and outrageous politics prevail. It's an excellent choice for anyone looking for an uplifting and entertaining listen.
  • The narration in 'Man Up!: Tales of My Delusional Self-Confidence' was absolutely fantastic and had me hooked from start to finish! It was a fun and entertaining journey through Ross Mathews' life. Honestly, I don't think I would have liked the book as much if I had read it myself.
  • I seriously can't express enough how much I adore Ross Mathews, and this book just intensified that love. It provided me with a unique perspective on my own childhood and made me realize that I wasn't alone in feeling like an outcast. It made me embrace my quirks and feel comfortable just being myself. I can't thank the author enough for this incredible book! Big thanks and lots of affection!
  • You gotta check out this book, man. I mean, seriously, it's the bomb. I can't believe I slept on it until now, especially with October 2020 almost in the rearview mirror. But hey, better late than never, right? I was locked in for a solid five hours, just vibing with this book, grinning like a fool and soaking up every word. Ross, the author, has got some serious skills when it comes to writing, and his narration is so damn enjoyable. I swear, it feels like he's just shooting the breeze with you, cracking jokes and dropping wisdom. I would kill to kick it with Ross, grab a drink, and chill. Seriously, this book needs to be read by everyone and their mama. Spread the word, my friend!
  • Ross Matthews is all about that spunky personality, and he's widely recognized for it. Seriously, who else can turn their unapologetic adoration for McDonald's, G Paltrow, and cute little puppies into pure entertainment? Ross stays true to himself and pours his heart into sharing his personal tales. I personally found it touching when he opened up about his father and their bond. It's my genuine wish that his story inspires countless others to come out to their parents and experience the same acceptance that Ross did.
  • After devouring "Man Up!: Tales of My Delusional Self-Confidence," I can't help but catch the infectious wave of positivity that emanates from its pages. My adoration for the author has skyrocketed to new heights as a result of this delightful read.
  • I had so many moments where I couldn't help but burst out laughing. I really appreciate how this audiobook managed to provide some much-needed relief from my grief, if only for a little while. I've been a fan of Ross ever since his appearance in "Pineapple".
