In 'Midnight in Death: In Death, Book 7.5', we witness the resurgence of a vengeful antagonist who systematically eliminates those involved in his previous defeat. Eventually, this leads to a thrilling confrontation between him and the police officer responsible for his incarceration. It's a story that feels reminiscent of a made-for-TV drama that has aired countless times, which, while acceptable, lacks the element of surprise.

Get ready to enjoy!
This novella, the first in the series and the seventh and a half book, titled "Midnight in Death," follows Lt. Eve Dallas as she confronts the reappearance of a killer she had previously put behind bars. David Palmer, the escaped convict, embarks on a vengeful killing spree, targeting individuals on his list - a list that includes Eve's name. In a thrilling cat and mouse game, Eve must tap into her inner strength when her close friend and almost a "surrogate mother," Dr. Charlotte Mira, becomes a captive of David. This concise, impactful addition to the series seamlessly integrates into the overall storyline.
I didn't really like this one. The story felt like it was hurriedly put together. While it did continue the In Death series, it lacked the same level of thrilling plot twists as the other books. I wouldn't say it's worth spending a credit on.
While 'Midnight in Death: In Death, Book 7.5' may be shorter compared to other installments in the In Death series, it doesn't skimp on the fantastic character growth and unexpected turns in the plot that I adore in JD Robb's novels.
This story is fantastic. I loved the unexpected turns the plot took, and I felt sorry for Eve in some moments. I'm eagerly looking forward to reading or listening to the next installment.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The conversation between Mira and Eve, where Mira expressed her desire to keep treating her patients, was a highlight for me. And the way Eve came to Mira's rescue was just awesome!
