I'm new to the world of audiobooks, and I must say, I'm hooked! It took me a while to find the perfect one to kick off my audio adventures, as many narrators tend to be dull or irritating. However, this particular narrator not only captured my attention but also had me chuckling along the way. She was an ideal fit for the book, which revolves around a clique of spoiled, self-centered high school girls who can be a bit snarky. It kind of reminds me of the movie 'Mean Girls,' but with a bit more maturity. I've already jumped into the second book, but I feel like it's rehashing too much from the first one. I'm undecided about continuing with the third installment, but the first book was definitely enjoyable!
The narrator of this audiobook was a major obstacle for me, to be honest it sort of spoiled the whole experience for me. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the plot of the story. Although, since this book is centered around teenagers, the fact that the narrator sounded like one might make it more relatable for young listeners. As an adult, however, it was definitely a drawback.
My daughter convinced me to indulge in a bit of nostalgia by choosing "Pretty Little Liars #1," despite being unable to find a compromise. However, after just one chapter, she had to admit that the trip down memory lane didn't meet her expectations. It was clear to both of us that this series is more suitable for a younger audience, preferably around fifteen years old or younger.
