  • Finishing this book was no easy feat, comparable to the intense training described by the author. While the book offers valuable content, it becomes repetitive and monotonous due to the relentless use of lists. The repetitive cadence of the narrator further adds to the tedium, making it one of the primary reasons why I eagerly wanted the book to end. It became increasingly irksome how the narrator's tone consistently rose in the middle of sentences or at commas. Truly irritating.
  • I was absolutely blown away by the extent of Eric's knowledge in philosophy. Every teenager between 16 and 19 should definitely give this book a read. It's a must-read for anyone interested in philosophy. Towards the end, there is a slight touch on religion, which I personally found unnecessary and a bit confusing - especially after Eric had just finished discussing the greatness of the scientific method (which it truly is!) and the importance of conducting our own research and asking tough questions, rather than blindly accepting what others tell us. In other words, we shouldn't unquestioningly believe unverified claims or historical hearsay (which is essentially what the Bible is). However, it's important to note that Eric does not attempt to convert anyone to his religion, which I truly appreciate. I simply feel that the book would have been just as good, if not slightly better, without the inclusion of religious content. Overall, Eric is an outstanding narrator and author, and I cannot recommend this book enough to anyone interested in valuable life lessons and philosophy in general.
  • Each chapter in this audiobook offers valuable guidance on how to embrace a resilient lifestyle. I can already tell that this is a book I'll be revisiting time and time again.
  • I gained a lot of knowledge from reading this book! The way it is presented, with the author sharing letters he wrote to a friend in need, really resonated with me. I definitely plan on revisiting this book in the future!
  • If you're going through a tough time (and let's be real, who hasn't been there?), then you absolutely need to give this audiobook a listen. And on top of that, there are some awesome stories about SEAL training. Trust me, it's worth it! Osu! 0:)
  • This book is so motivating and timely that it really opened my eyes once again. I'll definitely be giving it multiple listens to make sure I absorb all the wisdom it has to offer.
  • Initially, I was uplifted and motivated by the author's works, but it deeply disappoints me to see that he contradicts the very essence of his own teachings. He has become the complete opposite of what his writings aim to promote. It's challenging to trust any of his claims anymore; it feels like he is deceiving his readers.
  • This is not necessarily a book, but it is exactly what the title proclaims. "Hard-Won Wisdom". I really think it is something that once read, you will find your self going back to time and time. It's not just Greitens own personal wisdom, but the wisdom of literally hundreds of other historical figures that he brings into his writing. If you go into it thinking it's going to be a hoorah, ex Navy Seal bravado story you couldn't be more wrong. What you will find is something that will honestly make a difference in you and possibly those around you. I'm not going to lump it into the category of self help, because it is much more than that. Parts of this book have woven itself into my daily thought. Parts of it I've shared with others. Parts of it I will share with my son as he gets older. It's honestly that good. Sometimes even for a day or two. Read it, you won't be let down. On a side not, now that he is Governor Greitens, I might just move to Missouri!!!!
