Summary
Eloise Foley, known to her friends as Weezie, has been through the divorce from hell. I gotta say, back in the day when I was in my late teens/early 20s, I got hooked on this series. I mean, seriously, I fell head over heels for this book and couldn't let it go. Now, I'm usually more into the whole Stephen King/Clive Barker kind of vibe, so this one seemed a bit too "cute" for me at first. But my cousin insisted I give it a shot, so I did. And boy, am I glad I did! It's got a real Southern charm, a strong "girl power" vibe, and it was even ahead of its time in tackling some LGBTQ+ issues, which I absolutely adored. Trust me, this book is a must-read, and the narrator deserves all the props. She absolutely rocked the Savannah Georgia accent and brought these characters to life in such a captivating way. It's been like 15 years since I last read these books, and just recently I stumbled upon one of them and thought, "Hey, let's see if they have these on the service." And guess what? They did! And there's even another one in the series that I didn't know about! So, if you're in the mood for a delightful, easygoing story with a touch of murder and a whole lot of love, passion, and personality, do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this fantastic book!
The book was okay, nothing special. The narration wasn't enjoyable at all. It was difficult to listen to, and I was close to stopping a few times. I was really let down.
I really liked the book and the reader is awesome! The essence of Savannah is beautifully embedded in the story - with its charming antique shops, mouthwatering food, and genuine Southern connections.
I'm a huge fan of both the author and this particular book. It's filled with plenty of unexpected surprises and exciting moments that kept me engaged and entertained. The intricacies of the plot were a joy to unravel and immerse myself in. The ending, in particular, left a lasting impression on me. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series.
This book is absolutely perfect for a laid-back summer listen! Susan Ericksen's narration truly brings each character to life, just like she always does. Now, I'm on the hunt for my next Mary Kay Andrews novel!
I absolutely loved the combination of romance and suspense in "Savannah Blues" set in the vibrant city of Savannah. The plot had me eagerly anticipating each new revelation with its numerous unexpected twists and turns. Moreover, the characters themselves were intriguing and added depth to the story. Overall, it was an engaging audiobook that I highly recommend listening to.
The plot of the book wasn't really impressive. I tried to stick with it and listen for as long as possible, but the narrator's accent was just unbearable. Maybe reading it in print would be better, but they seriously need to find more talented narrators.
I would have probably managed to finish this story if it wasn't for the excessive use of unnecessary offensive language. I ended up skipping ahead and never got to know who killed who and what exactly happened, but honestly, I didn't even care that much, despite being someone who usually enjoys a good mystery. The way the "south" is portrayed here doesn't seem very accurate, especially with all the offensive language. On the positive side, the narrator's accent and performance were good. However, it's really disappointing to see people who consider themselves Catholic and religious using such vulgar language. I will be returning this audiobook and won't be giving this author another chance.
