I've been a fan of Card's books since high school, starting with Ender's Game. His writing has always captivated me, making it difficult to put his books down. However, Seventh Son didn't quite meet my expectations. Usually, Card creates deep and compelling characters that you can't help but care about. Unfortunately, the characters in this book felt flat and lacking depth, making it hard for me to connect with them. Moreover, the story itself dragged on unnecessarily, lacking a smooth flow. It constantly jumped around, with long and tedious passages that seemed disjointed and failed to form a coherent narrative. As a result, it was challenging to make sense of the plot. The lack of cohesion left me feeling indifferent about what would happen next, and ultimately, I won't be continuing with the series.

There are moments when I get the sense that authors tap into ancient forces that provide them with genuine narratives of past events or portrayals of ancient societies. Naturally, there is hardly any factual evidence to support these accounts, so the author conveys their story in a manner that resonates with modern readers: through the medium of fiction, specifically science fiction.
