  • The characters in 'Summer Rental' were solid, although I couldn't help but feel that the introduction of the mystery woman and her running story was a bit hurried and contrived. Moreover, I despised how the book prioritized whimsical stunts over rational choices. I'm more of a realist, and the "take risks without thinking" mentality didn't resonate with me.
  • I wasn't prepared for it to be over. Such an amazing story. Definitely worth every cent. I'll definitely keep it in my collection and give it another listen. I even downloaded it for my daughter. It's hilarious, intelligent, and feels just like hanging out with my best girlfriends. I can't stress enough how much I adore this story.
  • I was mostly engaged by the plot of 'Summer Rental'. However, in my opinion, it felt like it was written by an inexperienced author who struggled with building tension at crucial moments. It was quite lackluster, and I couldn't help but question the author's success. The dialogue of the characters was extremely cheesy, reminiscent of outdated 1950's language rather than reflecting the contemporary slang one would expect from a group of girlfriends in their 30's. Additionally, the narration was particularly dreadful. The southern women were portrayed as stereotypical hillbillies, which was incredibly unpleasant to listen to. Overall, this audiobook left me feeling frustrated and disappointed.
  • I was looking forward to enjoying "Summer Rental" since I've liked other books by Ms. Andrews, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a complete waste of my time. The characters lacked depth, to the point where I struggled to distinguish one from another. The plot was incredibly predictable, leaving no surprises. Although the narrator attempted to imitate a Southern accent, she failed miserably. The majority of the book was spent on characters repetitively rehashing the main plot points. Honestly, I found it difficult to believe anything about this book, even the fact that I managed to listen to it all the way through. I apologize for the negativity, but this is genuinely my honest opinion. Let's hope that this is just an outlier and that Ms. Andrews' next novel is back to her usual high standard.
  • I couldn't quite connect with the start of this book, and I'm not even sure why. It just didn't grab my attention. However, I must say that I really enjoyed the narrator's voice. It was pleasant and easy to listen to. Despite my initial reservations, I decided to stick with it because I typically enjoy this author's work. And I'm glad I did because it ended up being a captivating read. There was a good mix of mystery, romance, and some life-altering events, along with a few well-kept secrets. Overall, I found this story to be well-written and the narration was also top-notch.
