This book tells the incredible story of a remarkable woman who endured immense hardships and managed to raise twelve incredible children. However, I must admit that I found myself somewhat disappointed, possibly due to the excessive hype surrounding it.
This book, 'The Color of Water,' was quite the disappointment. The story format, content, and even the title left me feeling underwhelmed. It's great to hear that you and your family are doing well, James, but this particular story was a chaotic mess. If I were your editor, I would have needed an excessive amount of red ink to try and salvage this collection of disjointed anecdotes.
To make matters worse, my 15-year-old son has to suffer through reading and reporting on this extensive piece of literature over the summer. I can only guess as to why it was chosen for him.
"Hey kid, here's a bunch of dark and unsettling themes like drug use, abortion, prostitution, armed robbery, sexual abuse, family abandonment, infidelity, and irresponsible reproduction to ruin your day and make it difficult for you to summarize."
Overall, just a terrible experience.
This audiobook was fantastic to listen to!! The narrator did an amazing job and the story was captivating, keeping me fully engaged throughout. A big thank you goes out to the McBride's and Jordan's for opening up and sharing their incredible story.
