Summary
We are all vulnerable to addiction. Whether it's a compulsion to constantly check social media, binge eating, smoking, excessive drinking, or any other behaviors, we may find ourselves uncontrollably repeating. Why are bad habits so hard to overcome? Is there a key to conquering the cravings we know are unhealthy for us?
I feel like a lot of these books tend to drag on with unnecessary details. If I may offer some feedback to the author, there's no need for your book to be 500 pages long. All I really wanted was some guidance on breaking bad habits. Unfortunately, this book is filled with about 95% of the author's personal anecdotes and stories of how they or others gained their "knowledge," which didn't really address the main reason I picked it up. It was so overwhelming that I couldn't find the 5% of useful information I was looking for. I'm not particularly interested in the author's fascination with Lance Armstrong or in getting a lesson on the Tour de France. Reading this book felt like watching a 20-minute YouTube video that only offered 20 seconds of actually helpful content.
The author dedicates an excessive amount of attention to sharing personal anecdotes, significantly prolonging his explanations. As a result, this book contains very little beneficial information for its overall length. The focus seems to be more on the author's experiences rather than the habits, addiction, or the readers themselves.
