This audiobook encapsulates many essential elements for achieving success in an executive role. It clearly outlines both the dos and don'ts. However, the one drawback is that it exclusively uses male pronouns throughout the entire duration of the book. Hopefully, there will be future edits or updates to address this issue.
This book is clearly not up to date and many of its concepts may not be applicable in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving work environment, especially one with a predominantly millennial workforce. The ideas presented in this book seem to resonate more with traditional, hierarchical organizations that have a military-like structure. Moreover, there are underlying sexist undertones due to the time period in which it was written. The book only uses feminine pronouns a few times, and only in reference to someone who is depicted as acting hysterically. I believe that the elements related to time management, delegation, and focusing on strengths rather than weaknesses are indeed valuable, but I would prefer to see these concepts incorporated in a more modern resource.
While there are a few outdated references, the timeless guidance in "The Effective Executive: The Definitive Guide to Getting the Right Things Done" still holds true. The invaluable insights shared by Peter Drucker make this book truly remarkable. I'll definitely need to keep listening to it repeatedly in order to try and perform even half as well as the book suggests.
