  • If you're already well-versed in the Revolutionary Era and eager to delve deeper, then this book is right up your alley. As the title suggests, it covers various aspects of the period spanning from around 1764 to 1783. While it does touch on the Revolutionary War and its battles, the book takes a broader approach. However, if you were anticipating an in-depth exploration of the war's battles, you might be left wanting. In my personal opinion, this book leaned towards the scholarly and dry side, which didn't quite align with my preferences. Nevertheless, others might find it highly enriching and rewarding.
  • If you already have a good grasp on the American Revolution, this audiobook could still be worth your while, as the author delves into extensive descriptions of the years leading up to the outbreak of war. However, the book falls short in its coverage of the actual war itself, lacking the necessary level of detail and occasionally feeling rushed. There are instances where it almost feels like the book has been condensed or abridged. For instance, the author mentions Benedict Arnold as an underrated hero at Saratoga, but a few chapters later, he's mentioned as leading battles as a British officer, with no explanation provided for this sudden shift. While most readers are familiar with Arnold's story, it still feels like something worth addressing.
  • 'The Glorious Cause' reads more like an academic analysis of history rather than a captivating popular history. The initial 6-7 hours are incredibly tedious, almost to the point of being unbearable. However, once you push through this challenging section, the book significantly improves and becomes much more enjoyable.
  • This audiobook, 'The Glorious Cause', offers a meticulously crafted account of the American Revolution. The author skillfully outlines the individuals involved and the roles they played, providing readers with a comprehensive understanding. Moreover, the author admirably maintains an impartial tone, presenting facts from both perspectives, which enables listeners to gain a clear insight into the complexities of the conflict.
