Wow, I absolutely adored this audiobook. It's hands down the best health book I've ever listened to. The narrator is absolutely fantastic and brings a humorous touch to the content. The book itself is well-structured and every point made is incredibly convincing. While I've read several other books on keto before, there were still some new pieces of information that I found valuable.
One aspect that really stood out to me was the 21-day metabolism reset recommended by the authors before starting keto. Personally, I struggled with keto on my first two attempts, but on my third try, I gradually eased into it by first cutting down on carbs, waiting three weeks, and then further reducing carbs and protein. If I had come across this book earlier, my initial attempt would have been a success.
Towards the end of Part II, there's a fantastic quiz that helps assess if you're ready to start the keto ratios and become fat adapted. I actually typed out and printed the quiz because I believe it's a useful guide to refer back to every month or so. It covers important aspects like hunger, energy, mood, sleep, ability to skip meals, and of course, sugar and starch consumption.
The research presented on keto and athletics was absolutely fascinating and it motivated me to exercise in a fasted state.
This book is written extremely well, with a clear explanation of a challenging topic. Both my wife and I are thoroughly enjoying cooking together, and the recipes alone are worth it. It has completely changed our perspective on how we approach food, and I am absolutely loving it. The information is presented in a clear and organized manner, making it easy to follow. It has been a significant learning experience, especially since Mr. Sisson has personal experience with it. I am fully committed to embracing the principles outlined in this book.
The voice accompanying this book was a major turnoff for me, even though the content itself was intriguing. The delivery felt overly long-winded, especially in the initial sections where there was an abundance of information. There was a significant amount of persuasion involved as well. To truly grasp the essence and comprehend the book, I think I'll simply skim through the physical copy.
I can't stress how much I loved this book. Whether you're a newbie or a keto pro, there's something valuable to gain from it. Being an athlete, I had numerous queries about keto, and this book covered them all. Huge gratitude to Mark and Brad for the knowledge!
