Summary
In a daring and chilling debut, Brad Thor draws us into a sinister labyrinth of political intrigue and international terrorism, serving up an explosive cocktail of unrelenting action as one man is pushed to the edge.
After completing this book, I feel as though I've just binge-watched a gripping season of the TV series "24." "The Lions of Lucerne" centers around the abduction of the US president, delivering an unrelenting rollercoaster of action, surprises, and unexpected twists. Special Agent Scott Harvath, akin to Jack Bauer, miraculously evades certain death at every corner. Framed by the villains, he realizes that the only way to clear his name is to locate the president and apprehend the kidnappers. I willingly suspended my disbelief and thoroughly relished this exhilarating journey. If you're seeking a realistic thriller, this may not be the one for you. However, this book completely absorbed me, and I found it impossible to put down. It's worth noting that the initial hour or so is a bit sluggish, as I almost considered abandoning it, but I'm grateful I persevered. I sought out enjoyable escapism, and I certainly discovered it within these pages.
I'm extremely disappointed with this book and the entire series thus far. It was evident from the start what the outcome would be, and the supposed "surprises and turns" were incredibly amateurish. It felt like I was reading about a rookie local police officer rather than a seasoned retired navy seal and expert secret service agent. I'll give one more book in the series a chance, but if it's as terrible as the first three, I'm calling it quits. You won't be receiving any more of my hard-earned money or credits.
