I didn't enjoy 'The Newcomer' as much as other Mary Kay Andrews books, but it was still a solid read. The production and editing team made a few errors around chapter 65. They mistakenly referred to the older matronly character with the name of the young five-year-old character, which was a bit distracting. Nevertheless, the narrator did a commendable job.
I really enjoyed the characters in 'The Newcomer'. They were delightful and added a lot of charm to the story. The author did a great job of blending mystery and romance, creating a perfect balance that kept me hooked from start to finish. My interest was held captive throughout the entire book.
I really enjoyed this audiobook, it gave me major nostalgia vibes from my stays at the Swamp Fox Inn in Myrtle Beach. It was like reliving the same motel experience I had every time I visited there. So cool!
Mary Kay Andrews once again delivers an exceptional read with "The Newcomer". From the very beginning, this book had me completely engrossed. I found it almost impossible to tear myself away from its pages. It offers a fantastic blend of mystery, heartwarming moments, romance, and love. I was truly disappointed when I reached the end, as I was so invested in the story. This book has all the potential to be turned into a captivating series. Kudos to Andrews for a job well done!
The Newcomer kicks off with the tragic demise of one sister, forcing the other to go on the run with her niece to escape the clutches of the antagonist. The narrative weaves a captivating tale, filled with plenty of unexpected surprises, as new bonds are formed and love emerges triumphant.
Like every other summer read from MKA, "The Newcomer" is a total winner. The reader does an incredible job, and the story itself is super interesting with a few unexpected turns.
I don't know why, but the excessive use of the "F" word in this audiobook really bothered me. It wasn't something I recall encountering in the author's previous works.
The Newcomer was lacking creativity and felt quite predictable. It relied heavily on cliches, which detracted from the overall quality of the book. It doesn't live up to the author's usual standards.
This was my first Robyn Carr novel. I really enjoyed it. It had likable characters and an easy flow. My only criticism and also my pet peeve is when they tie up all the story lines in about 10 minutes. I enjoy this narrator she does a great job.
