Summary
Four months after the explosion at the Garden, a place where young women known as the Butterflies were kept captive, FBI agents Brandon Eddison, Victor Hanoverian, and Mercedes Ramirez are still entrenched in the aftermath, helping survivors in the process of adjusting to life on the outside. With winter coming to an end, the Butterflies have longer, warmer days of healing ahead. But for the agents, the impending thaw means one gruesome thing: a chilling guarantee that somewhere in the country, another young woman will turn up dead in a church with her throat slit and her body surrounded by flowers.
The Butterfly Garden was absolutely amazing... however, this particular book didn't quite hit the mark. We understand the concept - spirited teenage girls challenging the police and a heartwarming conclusion with smiles and embraces all around. It simply doesn't justify using a credit for it.
I was pretty disappointed with "The Roses of May" as it didn't live up to the standard set by the first book in the series. The pacing felt sluggish and the connection with the events of the previous book didn't resonate with me. After this letdown, I'm not inclined to give the third book a try.
I absolutely adored both books! I was eagerly anticipating the release of the second one and once I started listening, I just couldn't put it down. The author's writing style was truly captivating and I'm already counting down the days until her next book is released.
