Summary

A year after her husband's sudden death, ceramic artist Tilda Fordwells finally moves into the secluded Welsh cottage that was to be their new home. She hopes that the tranquil surroundings will help ease her grief, and lessen her disturbing visions of Mat's death. Instead, the lake in the valley below her cottage seems to spark something dormant in her a sensitivity, and a power of some sort. Animals are drawn to her, electricity shorts out when she's near, and strangest of all, she sees a new vision; a boatful of ancient people approaching her across the water.

  • I wasn't blown away by The Winter Witch, but The Silver Witch was just as amazing as The Witch's Daughter. It's interesting because this book was actually the first one in the series that I came across through an advertisement. So, I decided to listen to the first two books in order to reach this one, and I must say, I'm really glad I finally had the opportunity to immerse myself in it.
  • I gave this book my best shot, I've listened to many slow-starting ones before, so I really made an effort to push through. But no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't do it! This book is by far the slowest and most verbose book I've ever had the misfortune of listening to! Nine whole chapters and I can't even tell you a single thing about the story, except that the author seems to fancy themselves a poet and enjoys indulging in their own flowery language. It was so disappointing! I rarely give up on a book unless the language becomes too offensive, but I couldn't bear to keep listening.
  • I really wanted to adore this audiobook, but a lot of it just didn't click with me. Maybe I'll give it another go in the future. The plot was solid and the historical aspect was captivating, but I found it difficult to fully enjoy the whole experience. It took some time to fully dive into the story.
