Summary
Everyone has been trying to keep Gregor from seeing the final prophecy, The Prophecy of Time. It says something awful: It calls for the warrior's death. The warrior being Gregor, of course. Now, an army of rats is quickly approaching and Gregor's mom and little sister, Boots, are still in Regalia. The entire existence of the Underland is in Gregor's hands and time is running out. There is a code that must be cracked, a new princess to contend with Gregor's burgeoning dark side, and a war designed to end all wars.
I came across another review mentioning that some people found the ending of this book disappointing. However, in my opinion, it's the best installment in the series. I would recommend it for readers aged 9 and above. It's an incredible book, and I don't want to give away too much, but I can sum it up in a few words: Gregor, war, Ripred, near-death experiences, and triumph. Oh, and at one point, Luxa forms a bond with Ripred, just like Aries the flyer. It's a bonding experience that I found quite remarkable.
Shouldn't there be ferrets in the underland too, considering the presence of giant rats, mice, bats, scorpions, and moles? It seems only fitting, given the abundance of small creatures that loom large in this world.
I've gone through all five books in the series and personally believe that these books have the potential to be adapted into movies. Here's a thought: they might even gain more popularity than the Hunger Games!
I'm totally obsessed with this series. I have vivid memories of immersing myself in these books when I was a kid, and they were absolutely fantastic. Now that I'm older and more mature, I've come to appreciate the profound sadness that permeates this book series. It delves into some really poignant themes. My heart goes out to Gregor, he goes through so much. I think it's best suited for readers aged 12 and up. Just a heads up, it can get a bit intense and violent at times.
I absolutely love this series and this specific book is absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend it to everyone. However, I do feel that there should be an additional book to explain what happens next in the story.
I absolutely loved how 'Gregor and the Code of Claw: The Underland Chronicles, Book 5' wrapped up this series in a phenomenal way. The narrator did an outstanding job, keeping me hooked and entertained throughout the entire audiobook. Their engaging and captivating voice made it so easy to listen to and enjoy.
I enjoyed the story overall and admired the author's willingness to avoid taking the straightforward path in certain instances. However, I found the conclusion of the book to be somewhat unsatisfying in my personal opinion. There were still lingering questions left unanswered. It's possible that the author intentionally left things open for discussion, understanding that a neatly tied-up ending wouldn't please everyone. I'm not necessarily looking for a happy ending, but a bit more closure would have been preferable. Nonetheless, it remains a fantastic story and an excellent series.
