  • I had high hopes and excitement for 'The Wanderer', but it didn't quite meet my expectations. The main characters as a couple weren't given enough time for me to truly connect with them. While there was plenty of information about the town and its inhabitants, which I usually enjoy, I just didn't feel invested in the couple. The plot, however, was excellent and kept me engaged throughout. I won't spoil it by revealing too much, but I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book. I hope to see more development between the deputy sheriff and Gina, and how they bring their families together. I was hoping for a similar experience to Carr's original Virgin River series, where I was completely engrossed in the characters like Jack and Mel. Unfortunately, 'The Wanderer' fell short in comparison, which is disappointing for a series opener. Despite this, I would still buy more of Carr's books. I must mention that Therese Plummer's narration was outstanding once again. She is truly one of the best narrators I've had the pleasure of listening to.
  • I really liked this story to the point where it was worth using a credit. It was quite refreshing compared to the numerous romance books by RC. In my view, Summer in Sonoma was the only book by her that deviates from the usual formula. The characters are intriguing and Therese Plummer's narration is fantastic. Although, I think the story might have had a different feel if it were read by a different narrator. Overall, I enjoyed it and listened to it all the way through. And let's be honest, I don't think I could write a story myself, so it was definitely worth using a credit for.
  • I absolutely adored this book! I immediately recognized Coop from Virgin River, and I fell in love with the charming new town featured in this story. I cannot contain my excitement for this series and I can't seem to get enough of Therese and Robyn's amazing writing. The community in this new little town seems to be a bit more chaotic than in Virgin River, but they still manage to come together and support each other. It's a diverse mix of individuals, ranging from teenagers to older folks, and I'm eagerly looking forward to learning more about their fascinating lives!
  • I'm so let down, man. I was totally into the Virgin Series and had high hopes for this book. It's been sitting on my iPhone for like a whole month and I've given it a shot at least five times, trying to get into it. But damn, I just couldn't do it. The whole story and the characters were such a snooze-fest. Even Therese Plummer's narration couldn't spice things up enough for me to want to stick around till the end. Usually, I don't bail on a book without finishing it, but I gotta admit, this one made its way into that exclusive collection of letdowns.
  • I just discovered this new series and I'm totally hooked once more. The writing is top-notch, with a perfect mix of humor, depth, and a touch of beauty. The narration is absolutely brilliant, bringing the story to life in the most captivating way. This is definitely a book you don't want to miss out on.
  • The Wanderer is a classic Robyn Carr novel, reminiscent of the beloved Virgin River series. While the setting and characters may be different, the familiar storytelling style is evident from the start. With Therese Plummer as the narrator, it's hard not to associate the new characters with those from Virgin River. Sometimes, you just want a laid-back book with a touch of romance, and this one delivers exactly that. It's a no-frills, easy-listening experience that hits the spot.
  • 'The Wanderer' may not offer much in terms of mystery, but it certainly captivates as a heartfelt and romantic coming-of-age tale. What sets it apart is that it beautifully explores the journey of self-discovery not only for teenagers but also for middle-aged characters. Personally, I wouldn't have picked up this book had I known its focus, but being a resident of Oregon, I thoroughly enjoyed the familiarity of hearing about the nearby locations, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience.
  • I could not stand the narrator. It is rare when a woman can do a man's voice without making me cringe. The premise was fine but not as well played out as it could have been. Not one of her better books.
