The narration by Kate is truly outstanding, as her voice is easy on the ears and immerses you in the storyline effortlessly. I was so enthralled that I couldn't bring myself to stop listening, even sacrificing precious beauty sleep. Believe me, I need all the beauty sleep I can get, but Kate's narration had me glued to my earphones, much to the annoyance of my family. The Witching Hour was a massive book, clocking in at a whopping 50 hours, but I thoroughly enjoyed every single minute!
Interestingly, despite its lengthy duration, the story itself wasn't overly complex, leaving plenty of room for a potential sequel.
The narrative follows a family of witches, whose origins trace back to Scotland and eventually lead them to settle in New Orleans' vibrant French Quarter. Spanning four centuries, much like my own family, the majority of these witches happen to be women, which makes me wonder if there's some hidden knowledge I'm missing out on!
Each member possesses a unique ability, such as ESP or healing, which plays a crucial role in the quest to uncover the identity of a mysterious 13th witch, who holds unimaginable power. Moreover, the women's demonic familiar exerts a significant influence over them all, adding an intriguing layer of mystery.
Overall, this audiobook was a fantastic listen, and my only hope is that we won't have to wait another decade to get our hands on a sequel!
I absolutely loved 'The Witching Hour'! It completely immerses you into the captivating world of the Mayfair Witches. The 50 hours I spent listening to it were definitely worth it.
