Summary
L. Frank Baum's timeless classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was the first uniquely American fairy tale. A combination of enchanting fantasy and piercing social commentary, this remarkable story has entertained and beguiled readers of all ages since it was first published in 1900. Ray Bradbury writes in his Introduction, "Both [Baum and Shakespeare] lived inside their heads with a mind gone wild with wanting, wishing, hoping, shaping, dreaming," and it is this same hunger that makes all of us continue to seek out the story of Oz-and be nourished by it.
I gotta say, this audiobook is top-notch when it comes to bringing the classic story of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" to life. And let me tell you, it really left a mark on my 5-year-old kiddo. I mean, this little guy was glued to his seat, listening intently from beginning to end on a lazy Saturday morning. He was totally absorbed in every single moment and totally digging it.
I'm a big fan of Anne Hathaway's acting skills, but her performance as a narrator in this delightful tale was absolutely dreadful. The voices she came up with for the different characters were quite peculiar and didn't match the essence of the story in any way. In fact, a few of them were downright unbearable to listen to. I couldn't help but anxiously anticipate the completion of the audiobook. It was truly disheartening.
Brooke shields' voice is the worst! Find a different download with a better narrator. I couldn't make it through. I deleted this audiobook and found a different wizard of oz audiobook.
