Summary
By accepting the CEO job at Hewlett-Packard, an iconic company that had lost its way, Carly Fiorina confirmed her status as the most powerful businesswoman in America. But she also made herself a target for everyone who disliked her bold leadership style and resented her rapid rise.
This book was suggested to me that I would enjoy listening to it. The person was right. I would be willing to bet that if it is not already on the reading list, for Business Majors, in college it soon will be.
It really helps you appreciate how decisions are made in big business, and the games that people play around those decisions. She also gave a great perspective into her style of management, which is what I believe to be the best style of management - honest and keeping your soul in tact through out it all. Great read.
Very well done. This book filled in the blanks that were left out by the media. It was also interesting to hear how Carly got her start and worked her way up. Also, good to hear about supporting husband.
Very well done.
I was excited to hear Carly's voice reading the book. I've heard about 15-20 books in the last year and this was one of the best. As she starts off, I thought this might be a book about women and their treatment in the work force but quite the contrary. I was glad to find this book was about a wonderful study of a successful business person and her choices in a very difficult, vicious, backstabbing environment at the top. On the woman thing, I believe she made choices that would have been different than a mans that ultimately lead to her downfall--see if you can find them.
