Summary
In this heart-pounding follow-up to Tangled by New York Times bestsellering author Emma Chase, Kate reveals that there is trouble in paradise, when unexpected circumstances force her and Drew to “renegotiate” their relationship. Includes a bonus short story, Holy Frigging Matrimony!
I thought the book was solid, the writing really appealed to me. However, I must admit that I struggled with the female narrator's voice, it just didn't jive with my personal taste.
I really enjoyed the concept of the book, mainly because, like Yasmine, I've always had a soft spot for the villains in stories like Die Hard. However, I have to say that I'm not a fan of villains suddenly turning into non-villains just to be more likeable. This reminds me of 50 Shades of Grey, where there had to be a justification for the sadistic tendencies of the main character. I mean, why? If the whole point is to appreciate the villains, then let's just appreciate them for who they are. There's no need for a complicated backstory or traumatic experiences to explain their rough sexual preferences. The book started off strong, but I found myself becoming increasingly bored towards the end. It felt like the predator was transforming into a harmless bunny just to please the irritating main characters.
I began with Hooked, and was absolutely obsessed with that story, adored the way it unfolded and Wendy's character, then I proceeded to Scarred, which didn't quite resonate with me (although Tristan 🤤) but still worth giving a listen to and had a phenomenal conclusion.. but THIS! Twisted has completely captured my heart ❤️🔥 Julian truly stands out 🥵 This audiobook is incredible. Emily McIntire is undeniably talented and I'm eagerly anticipating more of her works.
