Piers reminded me of House from the TV show, played by Hugh Laurie. He was grumpy and incredibly intelligent, which I found endearing. There's nothing quite like a witty and smart-mouthed character, it's a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed how Linnet initially treated Piers as if he were her gay friend, it really made me laugh. The ending had me a bit concerned about how things would turn out, but like most romance novels, it had a satisfying conclusion and was filled with delightful characters. This book made my workday zoom by, a clear testament to its quality.
Whenever I go on the hunt for new reads, I tend to overlook just how much I adore Eloisa James. I reckon I'll grab myself another one of her books pronto.
I really enjoyed the story, it was a lot of fun and the narration was done really well. If you're looking for some easy entertainment, you won't be disappointed.
What's really great about this book is that even though it falls into the historical romance genre, the characters feel completely real and, despite their flaws, you can't help but like them.
I was captivated by the story from start to finish and found it thoroughly enjoyable throughout.
I had a great time listening to this audiobook for the second time. Beauty is a charming woman who faces a sudden downfall due to a badly designed ball gown. And let me tell you, the beast is something else. What sets this book apart from others in the genre is that both characters are unapologetically outspoken, yet their conversations never become loud or predictable. It was a truly enjoyable experience, and Susan Duerden's narration was fantastic.
I really love it when the leading lady has an attitude and isn't afraid to show it. Plus, the banter between the main characters is absolutely entertaining! It would be fantastic if the author could release more audiobooks of their stories.
