Summary
"I know that I'll be evaluated in Seattle with wins and losses, as that is the nature of my profession for the last thirty-five years. But our record will not be what motivates me. Years ago I was asked, 'Pete, which is better: winning or competing?' My response was instantaneous: 'Competing. . . because it lasts longer.'"
I really enjoyed the fact that Pete himself narrated the audiobook instead of hiring someone else. It added a personal touch and made me feel more connected to the content. Thanks to this book, I'm starting to develop a life philosophy that will influence every aspect of my life.
Although Coach Carroll's narration may not be exceptional, the essence of the story is extremely important! Interestingly, if you decode "Always Compete" letter by letter, it could be interpreted as "Always com Pete" or "Always with Pete." I know, it's a bit of a stretch, but as a loyal USC fan since 1988, especially during the challenging years with Rodney Peete, I was really hopeful when Coach Carroll was hired. This excitement was not common, even in my family where both of my grandfathers were SC alumni. Thankfully, things turned out well! My son was born on January 4, 2005, during the second quarter with 1:35 left on the clock (Steve Smith scored his second of three touchdowns). My daughter arrived during the ND weekend in 2006 on November 26th. I earned my MA from USC in May 2013. Listening to Coach Carroll's account of his time at Troy and the nearly disastrous attack reminded me of a similar experience my dad had. Coach, thank you for the motivation. I have developed my own teaching and playing philosophy, and they align with yours.

Pete Carroll really knocks it out of the park with his book "Win Forever: Live, Work, and Play Like a Champion." He does an incredible job of not only entertaining the reader, but also providing valuable insights on how to achieve success. After reading this book, you can't help but feel inspired and motivated to reach your full potential in whatever you do.
After finishing GRIT by Angela Duckworth, which included an interview with Pete Carroll, I was intrigued and decided to pick up his book, 'Win Forever: Live, Work, and Play Like a Champion'. This book had a profound impact on me and left me feeling motivated. I could easily adapt Carroll's philosophy to align with my own career goals. However, the only downside was the narration. I had to slow down the speed and increase the volume in order to catch the entire phrases he was saying.
This book is so amazing that it deserves to be narrated by Pete Carroll himself. Pete Carroll is too talented to have his book narrated by an NFL coach and not a professional voice artist. Just like you wouldn't want a voice actor coaching the Seahawks in a crucial game, it's worth hiring a pro to narrate this impactful book. As it stands, it's challenging to listen to.
I really enjoyed Petey narrating it and I fully support his approach to football and life, but I'm not sure, I was expecting something more. Still, I appreciate the overall message. Go Hawks!
This audiobook is absolutely awesome, whether you're listening to it or reading it. Pete really nails it when it comes to talking about his mindset of 'Always Competing' in every aspect of life. No matter what you're facing, you always have the option to compete and adopt a winning attitude. Go Hawks!
